Build Your Own AI Second Brain
Course content. A doctoral dissertation is born of hundreds, if not thousands, of files, folders, notes, ideas and sources, spread over different formats and apps. No matter how organised you are, it is a maze that your brain cannot possibly remember. That is why, in this course, you'll learn to build yourself an AI-powered second brain: a personal knowledge base that makes your material immediately queryable, working as an extension of your own memory. Everything it holds becomes available for whatever idea, question, text or project you are working on. Starting from your own corpus (your literature, your notes, your ideas), you build an AI system that breaks it down into small atomic notes in Markdown format, each enriched with a layer of metadata called frontmatter: a wiki. You then query this wiki through an AI chat to support your work whenever you want, and it can even automatically make suggestions from your wiki as you are writing.
Goals. You learn to:
- set up a research wiki from your own data, literature or notes;
- maintain and improve it on your own;
- instruct an AI system to file, summarise, link and retrieve your material;
- write, think and brainstorm using your wiki through the interaction with AI;
- judge what a knowledge base is good for and where it fails, and when to go back to the source itself.
Format. Every course can take different shapes: in person, online or both, as one intensive block or spread over several weeks, shorter or longer. Length, format and all practical details are open: we agree them together, and I adapt the course to what your institution needs.
